AskNow!

Maximising access to information is one of the Library's key goals. AskNow! - a virtual reference service providing online support for users - is one way the Library is achieving this. Initiated by the State Library of Victoria, AskNow! is staffed by librarians from the National Library, State and Territory libraries and various public libraries.

Answering questions in real time

Our short animation shows you how AskNow! works. People log in, type in their question and a librarian responds with tips, websites and search strategies. An email containing live links to all the different sites that were visited by the librarian and a full chat transcript is sent to the user at the end of each session.
