The Library is using a range of new technologies to enhance collection items and bring our heritage materials to a wider audience. One of several applications being used by the Library is virtual page-turning technology. It allows users to interact with books, manuscripts and other bound printed material in our collection without physically handling often fragile and rare items.
This is the Hut that Jack Built enables you to have a virtual experience of reading the book by 'turning' its pages. It is an online interactive version of a rare Australian 19th-century children's 'toy book'. Part of Calvert's Australian Picture Book series, this 12-page storybook has taken a familiar European rhyme and placed it in a uniquely Australian setting.
